Pilates


Pilates is a re-discovered system of exercising that was developed by its author Josef Hubertus Pilates already in the 1920s; he had been improving it for whole his life. Already in the 1940s the exercising Pilates became popular for professional dancers and actors in New York as a useful compensation exercise. Today, more and more people become interested in Pilates who are tired of the atmosphere of muscle-conditioning gyms or exercising studios focused on aerobic. Physiotherapists and rehabilitation workers also become fans of pilates, as pilates is, with its nature, rehabilitation correcting exercise, and it is very beneficial also for active sportsmen. Deep balance muscles are exercised here about which one does not even know that he has them, does not see them, does not touch them. However, just these muscles are the support for the backbone, they relieve joints and the whole skeleton. This exercising system leads to strengthening and stretching muscles of the whole body trying to use balanced cooperation of the body and mind. It develops the coordination, strength, balance, flexibility and breathing. It develops the back, abdominal and gluteus muscles as the basis of the correct posture. The purpose is strengthening the centre – the core of the body, the so-called “power house”. Generally, it develops long, slender muscles, with emphasis on the correct breathing, it oxidizes muscles, supports the circulation of blood and renews the overall vitality, so the person feels refreshed, the body becomes strong and flexible. Exercising is very intensive. Exercising is performed on the ground. Optimally, one should exercise twice per week. During this exercising, you will feel differently already after 10 exercises and the others also notice changes in 30 weeks. Exercising is intended for all age categories, both men and women. It is suitable for people with chronic backache, with excess weight, people suffering from stress or interested in the prevention of osteoporosis. It is also suitable for women trying to become pregnant (it will strengthen the abdominal muscles significantly) or for women who are already pregnant and who want to maintain firm muscles in the abdominal area also during pregnancy. For the Pilates lesson, you may also come tired after a demanding day, while doing exercises you will feel its demands, but at the end of the lesson you will have strength and energy and you will be able to cope with your worries better.
